Charles A. McCullers
Charlie is a practicing photographer from Atlanta, GA. He graduated in 1980 from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photographic Design and from Savannah College of Art and Design with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography in 2019. In between that time, Charlie maintained a highly successful, award-winning, photography studio from 1985 to 2015. Since then, he has focused his attention on several personal projects, both collaborative and solo, regarding various themes related to climate change, contemporary dance, and the iconic illustration of American Baseball.
Charlie employs a multitude of photographic processes in his work, ranging from the antiquated to the electronic. These processes span the history of photography from the tenets of camera obscura to the use of conventional lens-based equipment. The substrates range from archival pigment, platinum/palladium, gelatin silver to alternative experimentations in collodion on aluminum.
In addition to a clientele of Fortune 500 clients, his commercial work continues to be published and acknowledged, most notably by the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), the Tate Gallery (London), the National Gallery of Art, in Washington, DC, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and on behalf of the Sir Elton John Photography Collection. Charlie also served as principal photographer for Atlanta Ballet for more than twenty years and served as a primary contributor to the Atlanta Braves between 1991 and 2000.
